Mac & Cheese with Chicken Sausage and Peas
Mac & Cheese is not just for the kiddies anymore! This Chicken Sausage Mac & Cheese meal is so easy and flavorful; you’re going to want to add it to your weekly meal rotation. And, even though, I’ve added a little pizzazz and veggie action- it’s still super kid-friendly!

I used Annie’s Organic Shells and Real Aged Chedder Mac & Cheese to make a really quick, tasty, healthy dinner that my whole family enjoys. My kiddos, like most, are crazy for Mac & Cheese… what can I say I’m pretty crazy for Mac & Cheese too! I always use Annie’s brand Mac & Cheese because they choose every ingredient that goes into their products with care. You won’t find any; GMOs, synthetic preservatives, artificial flavors, synthetic colors, growth hormones or persistent pesticides. Just look for Bernie, the little rabbit on Annie’s packaging and you’ll know you’re getting a top notch product. Who else is #teamannies? 🙂
I think most of us can admit, we love plain ol’ Mac & Cheese with nothing added. However, it’s always fun to experiment and change things up. I decided to use a nitrate-free, minimally processed Apple Chicken Sausage and some frozen peas to give my Mac & Cheese a little extra oomph. While the Mac & Cheese was boiling; I chopped up a couple of sausage links and heated them in a small skillet. When the Mac & Cheese was cooked and prepared, I threw in the sausage and frozen peas. I love an entire meal that can be served in about 10-15 minutes! Works well for those busy school nights!
Mac & Cheese with Chicken Sausage and Peas
Ingredients
- 1 6 oz. box of Annie's Mac & Cheese (I used the organic shells and real aged cheddar variety.)
- 2 nitrate-free chicken sausage links, chopped (I used an apple chicken variety.)
- 1/2-1 cup frozen peas
- salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Prepare Mac & Cheese according to package instructions.
- Meanwhile, heat chopped sausage in a skillet over med-high heat.
- Once Mac & Cheese is cooked and prepared, add the sausage and peas to the Mac & Cheese and gently stir to combine.
