50 Healthy Trader Joe’s Favorites
If you follow me on Instagram, you know I LOVE Trader Joe’s. There are so many healthy, delicious, and unique products to find. And the prices are great!! This post is a long time coming and I hope you enjoy this list of my top 50 healthy Trader Joe’s favorites for making tasty and nutritious meals!
I apologize in advance for anyone who doesn’t have access to a Trader Joe’s. Skip this post or bookmark for when you’ll be traveling near one!
One of my favorite things about Trader Joe’s is how great the quality is and how easy it is to find everything! I also LOVE how many fun and unique things they have each season! It’s super affordable and does not disappoint in quality. I don’t do all of my shopping there, but I am a regular shopper for sure. There are just so many staples that I can’t find at other grocery stores (or can but they’re double the price)! With that, I thought it would be helpful to share a post with the top 50 must-have healthy items from Trader Joe’s.
Some people assume that everything is healthy in stores like Trader Joe’s and Whole Foods, but that’s not always the case. It’s still best to stick with lots of fresh produce AND really read those labels when it comes to packaged items.
I pretty much purchase the same things over and over again. If it’s good, why mess with it right?! Obviously, this post isn’t sponsored. I don’t think Trader Joe’s even works with influencers (but please sign me up at the top of the list if they ever do!). I hope this list gives you some ideas of new healthy staples to buy from Trader Joe’s.
50 HEALTHY TRADER JOE’S FAVORITES
PRODUCE
Trader Joe’s is my favorite place to buy produce. They have incredible deals and tons of organic options, like their spinach, kale and apples. Romaine is my favorite for salads and I always grab up a package when I stop in.
Trader Joe’s also offers a wide selection of prepackaged salad mixes and chopped veggies. This one is a favorite of mine for a quick option to sauté up veggies as a side or to pair with eggs for a breakfast scramble.
I always buy organic berries from Trader Joe’s because the prices are great and the berries are always fresh and tasty. I also find that they tend to last a long time. What you see below is a really large container.
Trader Joe’s carries some of my favorite dressings. The ones I like best are located in the produce department. This green goddess has very minimal ingredients and the macros are amazing. It’s definitely a salad staple for me!
I also REALLY love the Cilantro Dressing! Sometimes I use it on my salmon tacos instead of taking time to make the Avocado Crema!
If you like riced cauliflower or riced broccoli, but don’t want to hassle with the mess or time it takes to make it on your own, I highly encourage you to buy it. SO much easier and SO worth it. They also have frozen riced cauliflower available. I’ve been obsessed with sautéing this, adding roasted veggies and two fried eggs. I shared it on my Instagram just the other day and saved it to my Whole30 highlights.
You’ll find the Medjool Dates in the produce department at Trader Joe’s and these are amazing. BEST dates ever! I like to say that dates are nature’s candy. They are the absolute perfect sweet treat paired with almond butter or almonds or wrapped with bacon.
For as long as I can remember, the dips were located in the produce area, but just yesterday when I stopped in, they had moved them over near the dairy items. For simplicity, I’m just going to list them here, under the produce stuff. I think the Wrights of Texas Fresh Salsa is only local to Texas, but if you’re from Texas too, this stuff is a MUST try. My husband is the biggest salsa snob – if you haven’t tried his salsa recipe that is one of my most popular recipes, it’s absolutely wonderful. When he doesn’t have homemade, this is the next best thing!
These 100 calorie individual guac packets are so convenient and tasty! They also carry large containers of this guacamole.
Hands down one of my favorite healthy dips ever is the Reduced Guilt Chunky Guacamole. This has great macros and is so delicious used as a dip, spooned out over tacos, spread on burgers and as an egg scramble topping. So many uses!
FROZEN FAVORITES
These Chile Lime Burgers are a go-to! The macros are great, they’re Whole30 approved and so tasty. They make awesome burgers, but they’re also wonderful cut up in a salad.
Another go-to burger. I LOVE these turkey burgers. They have a wonderful flavor and are also Whole30 compliant. I like to pair these with roasted veggies.
For a meatless option, we love these high-protein veggie burgers. They have much more protein than your average veggie burger and the ingredients aren’t too bad.
These potatoes are great for breakfast or anytime. Such a convenient option!
Even my picky kiddos like this lasagna! It’s a great one, when you don’t have time to make your own. And it’s a family size!
Trader Joe’s has several frozen rice varieties. They all microwave for just three minutes and cook up so nice and fluffy.
MEATS
There are tons of great choices in the meat department at Trader Joe’s. Much of the meat they offer is organic and antibiotic free.
I always pick up the individually packaged grilled chicken breast for a great lean source of protein to chop up over salads or pair with rice and veggies. I keep one of these in my fridge and one in the freezer at all times.
Trader Joe’s has a wide variety of chicken sausage options. I really like the garlic herb because it has great macros and it’s Whole30 compliant. The sweet apple one is a great option too.
Prosciutto – cause we need this for cheese boards! This is a great Whole30 snack option too! Love it on pizza, in salads and wrapped around apple slices.
PANTRY STAPLES
In my opinion, Trader Joe’s has some of the best seasonings around. The Everything but the Bagel Sesame Seasoning is hugely popular and for good reason! It’s absolutely delicious on so many things, especially sprinkled over smashed avocado toast and fried eggs! Other seasonings from TJ’s that I love are the taco seasoning, 21 Seasoning Salute, Onion Salt, Chile Lime Seasoning, All Purpose Seasoning Salt and the Everyday Seasoning.
Love this spray for cooking and baking!
And they have great prices on the olive and avocado oils.
ALL THE NUT BUTTERS. Trader Joe’s has the cheapest, most delicious nut butters around and I always stock up on every variety. Almond butter, peanut butter, cashew butter, any and all! I don’t discriminate, haha! I also love that many of their nut butters are only made with nuts and maybe salt. The crunchy, salted almond butter is my favorite!
Again, TJ’s has the cheapest specialty flours and they last a while! I get all of my almond flour, almond meal and coconut flour from TJ’s.
Annnnd of course TJ’s would have the cheapest nuts too. I don’t go anywhere else for nuts. They also have a great selection of dried fruit products, snack bars and protein powders.
Max and Ken’s favs! I don’t buy dog treats anywhere else.
I love these so much because the price is great, my dogs love them and just look at those ingredients! In the chicken tenders, it’s just chicken. I also buy the salmon tenders and the sweet potato and salmon soft treats.
These Roasted Plantain Chips are SO FREAKING ADDICTING. And at $1.69 a bag, you’ll want to grab at least four or more bags. The ingredients are really great too! BTW – they also have a sweet version.
Love that these tortillas taste great and have simple ingredients! They’re perfect for taco night or whipping up enchiladas.
The ingredients are only corn, water and lime! ??
Trader Joe’s carries both the turkey and beef Chomps. These are a great, high protein snack and they’re even Whole30 compliant!
BEVERAGES
This is the only OJ my husband will drink. He prefers his OJ to be unpasteurized and freshly squeezed, which is really hard to find.
I’m not really much of an iced coffee person, but my daughter loves this stuff!
If you drink alcoholic beverages, Trader Joe’s is a great place to pick them up. They’re cheap and there are some yummy choices!
BONUS
I know this is a “healthy” roundup, but I couldn’t resist including my favorite sweet treat from Trader Joe’s. These sea salted brownies are so popable and irresistible!
One other thing that’s great to scoop up is a bouquet of flowers or a plant. The prices are awesome and the flowers last really well. I always grab a few bunches of eucalyptus because it’s only 2.99 per bunch and lasts over 2 weeks.
I hope you enjoyed this Trader Joe’s round up. Also, be sure to check out my Trader Joe’s favorites from my stories on Instagram, saved to my highlights. There are a few additional products. I’d love to hear what your favorite products are from TJ’s. Leave a comment below!
I love how enthusiastic you are about Trader Joe’s! I love going to TJ’s and feel so fortunate that we have one in our city. They are truly the best! Worth the 15 minute drive to get there.
Yes! Love Trader Joe’s!
TJ’s candied walnuts and pecans are fabulous and so addicting that I have to buy two bags of each, at a time.
Oh my gosh, yes! We love the spicy candied pecans!
TJ Frozen (Hericot Verts) green beans are fantastic! Large bag is only $1.69! Perfect!
Adding that to my grocery list!
Sauteed with sesame oil and TJs General Tso’s sauce!
Sounds good! Thanks for the recommendation!
They have wonderful skin care and hair care products as well!
Yes! I love the peppermint lip scrub!
I love TJs – especially for their wine and nuts – so economical!
For sure!
Love your list! I wonder if there are Trader Joe’s here in Hong Kong. Will bookmark this for future reference 🙂
I love Trader Joe’s — they’re only 5 minutes from my house and I’m there constantly. Will check out your recommendations — and definitely you need to try their Pita Crackers and olive tapenade. Awesome.
Oh yes, love the pita crackers! Need to try the olive tapenade!
We currently live in the middle of nowhere and have NO healthy food stores and barely any real grocery stores lol….we’re moving soon and Trader Joes will be out closest health food store so this list is going to come in super handy!! Thanks!
