Chipotle Awesome Sauce
This sauce y’all! I’m calling it Chipotle Awesome Sauce because it is completely AWESOME. One taste and you simply will not be able to stop. I’ve been dipping chips and raw veggies in it, spreading it on wraps and sandwiches, drizzling it over salads, eggs, roasted veggies and pretty much everything else. A dollop here and a dollop there and before I knew it… uh oh. No more awesome sauce.
No worries, though. Chipotle Awesome Sauce not only tastes fantabulous, but it also could not be any easier to whip up. Toss all of the ingredients in a high-speed blender or food processor, give it a good whirl and voilà… awesome sauce… just like that!
Easy enough, any time the craving hits and the craving will hit. According to Urban Dictionary, awesomesauce is “something that is more awesome than awesome. It is a modifier of your basic awesome into a more awesome version.” Yeah, pretty much explains this Chipotle Awesome Sauce to a tee. In fact, I’m a little offended they didn’t list this sauce in the description. Oh well, I’m sure it’s just a matter of time. 😉
The recipe for the picture below is comin’ atcha soon, so stay tuned!
Chipotle Awesome Sauce
Ingredients
- 1 small chipotle pepper in canned adobo sauce*
- 1/2 cup + 2 tablespoons water**
- 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
- 1/2 cup raw cashews or cashew pieces
- juice from 1 lemon
- 3 tablespoons nutritional yeast***
- 2 cloves garlic
- 2 teaspoons bragg liquid aminos****
- 1/2 teaspoon salt + more to taste as needed
- 1/2 teaspoon cumin
- 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
- 1/4 teaspoon paprika
Instructions
- Place all ingredients in a high-powdered blender. Blend on high for about one to two minutes.
- Store in the refrigerator for about 1-2 weeks.
Notes
**Add more water 1-2 tablespoons at a time, if needed to get things moving in the blender.
***Nutritional yeast can be found in the healthy foods aisle of your grocery store. It is not the same thing as baking yeast. It gives the chipotle awesome sauce a slight cheesy flavor.
-Adapted from Melissa's Bitchin' Sauce.
****Feel free to substitute with Tamari or Soy Sauce. Even Worchestire Sauce would probably be a good substitute.
