Christmas Light Scavenger Hunt and Some of the Best Chrismtas Cookies Ever
Woohoo…. it’s Friday!!!!!!! And I’m going to cram as much awesome Christmas stuff as I can into this one post. Have you guys finished your Christmas shopping yet? Only 12 more days! I haven’t completely finished, but I’ve made a huge dent. Thanks to all of the ice days, I was able to sit down and do tons of online shopping…. Amazon to the rescue! Let’s start this post off with what we all want this year, and that’s a cookie that just bursts with Christmasness {new word}. This is that cookie! If you love peppermint, you have to make this cookie.
The holidays are a time for eating foods that you might not always indulge on and enjoying the tastes and flavors of the season. To enhance the deliciousness of this cookie, I used white flour, butter and regular sugar. Feel free to adapt this recipe and change out the ingredients to make these cookies a little on the healthier side. However I will warn you, you may loose the “Christmas cookie” texture and scrumptiousness! These are soft, chewy and absolutely fabulous…. I wouldn’t want you to mess that up! I adapted these from Santa’s Favorite Christmas Cookies.
Last year we had such a blast with the Christmas light scavenger hunt, that I decided to come up with my own printable list to share with you guys.

Last year, the kids and I hopped in the car with our blankets, cocoa and cookies and went in search of the most beautiful lights we could find; including everything on our scavenger hunt list. We listened to Christmas music and had such a blast that I knew we had created a new family tradition.
Something to think about…..
Are you ready for Christmas? Any shopping left to do?
What’s one of your favorite Christmas family traditions?
Have you ever been on a Christmas light scavenger hunt?
Have fun this weekend and enjoy the season!!!! Wish me luck, tomorrow. Since the Dallas Marathon was canceled this past weekend, a running store in the area (Fort Worth Running Company) is putting on a small marathon on Saturday and I’ll be running. I’m very excited to be able to put all of my hard work to use!!
I love that scavenger hunt, and those cookies look and sound AMAZING!
Thanks, Amy! The scavenger hunt was so much fun!
Love the Scavenger hunt printable! It will make our yearly outing to see the lights so much more fun.

Me too and paired with a delicious cookie…. heaven!
That’s great about the Fort Worth Running Company putting on a marathon. Have fun running it!
These cookies super-appetizing… I would like to make any real things for holidays 😉 As I live in Russia, we have no tradition to celebrate Christmas, the main holiday – New Year on December 31 🙂
Those cookies look yummy. I am a huge peppermint fan, so I may have to put my baking apron on this weekend. Our family traditions seem to change each year as I have family all over the place, but my husband and I love to pack up a backpack with snacks, blankets, and “adult” hot cocoa, and ski out to one of the cabin shelters to sit by the fire. I love snow on Christmas! Once we have kids, that scavenger hunt looks like it would be a big success.
Hope you have a strong 26.2 this weekend!
You should for sure give these a try…. you won’t be disappointed! I love your tradition of backpacking. Sounds super cozy and romantic!
That scavenger hunt sounds SO fun! I bet your kiddos love that. Heck, I would love that ;).
Mmmm the cookies look great!
I absolutely love the scavenger hunt idea – too cute!
Thanks, Ashley! Maybe in a couple of years you can take Hunter on the scavenger hunt. 😉
I am so trying out that cookie recipe this weekend and I love the Scavenger hunt, that is an awesome fun thing to do!
I hope you got a chance to give the cookies a try and love them as much as I do!
I’m currently stockpiling all Christmas cookie recipes…this is perfect! (good luck with the marathon, too!)

Bits & Bobs
They are pretty addicting…. I hope you get a chance to give them a try!
Can I skip work and make these today?!?! I WANT THEM. My family eats chinese food on Christmas so I guess that’s our tradition!
That’s a fun tradition!! It’s always nice to do something special, just on Christmas.
That’s seriously an awesome Christmas tradition, and I may just end up trying to convince my family to go on a scavenger hunt this year. One of my favourite things is going to midnight mass on Christmas Eve. My family is European so we end up having our bigger celebration on Christmas Eve, with presents and dinner followed by a trip to church. Wouldn’t be Christmas without it.
I think if you were able to convince your family to go on the scavenger hunt, they would end up having fun! 🙂 I love your tradition… sounds really special.
